The Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, consisting of 170 sections divided into 12 Chapters is both technical and interesting. The Adhiniyam has replaced the roughly 150 years old law of the colonial era, i.e., the Indian Evidence Act, 1872. This Adhiniyam represents the modernisation of original Indian Evidence Act, 1872 and the main aim of this Adhiniyam is to modernise, simplify, and streamline the presentation and interpretation of e-evidence inside the courts so as to make the judicial system more technology-enabled, fair and efficient.
This book gives the reader a simplified insight into the various technical and legal issues of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam in an easily understandable form. Simplified examples have made the concepts very clear and we are sure all the readers would find this edition quite useful in their study. The book will be useful for the students of LL.B. (both 3 years and 5 years) and LL.M.
Prof. (Dr.) Paramjit Kaur, having 33 years teaching experience, is an authority in the field of Law of Evidence, Environmental Laws and Military Laws. She is known for her perfection and compassionate behaviour. She has chaired, participated and presented papers on various topics and also attended National/International conferences and seminars. She had supervised more than 20 candidates for Ph.D. and also guided a good number of students for their LL.M. Dissertations. She had been member of various committees in Panjab Universities and other Universities, i.e., a member of Board of Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh; Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar; Pondicherry University, Pondicherry. She had also been a member of selection committee in the department of social security and women and child development, Punjab for the selection of chairpersons and members of child welfare committees and members of Juvenile Boards of all the districts of Punjab, under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 for the term 2018-2021 and 2021-2024. She got superannuated in January 2023 as Professor from Panjab University, Chandigarh. She shares a deep bond with the Department of laws, PU, Chandigarh.
Dr. (Mrs.) Jyoti Rattan, Associate Professor, Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh, is a topper in Law and a Gold Medalist in LL.M, Ph.D. in Law and M.Sc. in Chemistry. Her areas of interest have been Taxation laws, Cyber Law, Law of Contract, RTI and International Law. Dr. Rattan has written books on Taxation Laws, Cyber Law, RTI, International Law and Corporate Law. She has also written several research articles on Taxation Laws, Cyber Law and International Law areas besides on Inter-disciplinary Law and Administrative issues, published in reputed journals including Sage Open. She has presented papers and won awards at various national and international Conferences in India and abroad including the 91st Indian Science Congress; 26th International Congress of Administrative Sciences, Seoul, Korea, 2004; Third Regional International Conference; International Institute of Administrative Sciences (Belgium), Monterrey, Mexico, 2006 and 27th International Congress of Administrative Sciences, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., 2007 and 2011 International Conference of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS), held at Lausanne, Switzerland, 2011. Dr. Reena Kansal did her PhD on “Ordinance Making Power and its Impact on Parliamentary Form of Government – A Critical Analysis”. She has worked in the Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh from 2013 to 2017 as guest faculty and from 2017 till date as part time faculty teaching procedural laws. She has participated in various national and international conferences. She has also authored a book on Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
