The Indian Government established India’s first offshore/International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), in the GIFT City at Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The IFSC in GIFT City provides several benefits and incentives which, inter alia includes: state-of-the-art infrastructure at par with other leading global financial centres, end to end financial services ecosystem, conducive regulatory environment and a liberal tax regime.

The IFSC Authority (IFSCA) was also established to act as a unified regulator for financial institutions providing financial services from the IFSC in India. With the effective constitution of the IFSCA, several regulations are issued by the IFSCA to attract financial services entities to set-up presence in the IFSC.
