Monthly GST Briefings with Rajat Mohan & Manish Gadia - October & November, 2023

Publisher: Taxsutra
About Webinar:

Webinar Background -
The GST landscape has been bustling with pivotal changes, shaping the terrain for businesses and taxpayers. One among these changes is Rajasthan HC's verdict on Inverted Duty Structure (IDS) for Textile Manufacturers, which has set a precedent by allowing refunds in scenarios where input tax rates surpass those of output supplies [TS(DB)-GST-HC(RAJ)-2023-1026]. In a bid to offer respite to taxpayers, the Orissa HC adeptly disposed of a multitude of writs challenging dismissals based on time-bar constraints [TS(DB)-GST-HC(OR)-2023-1085]. Leveraging the 'Amnesty Scheme,' this resolution has extended relief to those who faced appeal rejections due to missed deadlines. Additionally, the Madras High Court's intervention in setting aside Puducherry AAR's order regarding services related to imported wheat has addressed fundamental aspects of defining "agricultural produce" [TS(DB)-GST-HC(MAD)-2023-1174]. These legal interpretations and rulings underscore the need for a nuanced understanding of GST intricacies, crucial for informed decision-making and compliance.

As the government strives to develop the law in order to make it litigation-free, it becomes necessary for a professional to stay updated and aligned with all the changes occurring in the GST world. To cope up with these unending changes can be difficult, but as a well-known adage goes “any change, even the change for the better, is accompanied by discomfort” and the only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it and join the dance...!
