As you may be aware that the Government has approached taxpayers for a handshake to convert the Tax Vivads (disputes) to Vishwas (trust), offering taxpayers a one-time opportunity to settle their pending income tax litigation by paying the tax dues and waiving the interest and penalty on the disputes. The CBDT, in lieu of representations from stakeholders has issued FAQs providing clarifications and also extending relaxations. Earlier the Vivad se Vishwas Scheme (VsV scheme)  had a deadline of 31 March 2020 which has been extended twice and now taxpayers can apply for settlement of their tax disputes until 31 December 2020.
