Course Expiry: 1 year

Publisher: Taxsutra
About Course:

Episode Duration:
75 minutes

Episode Background:

The GST Landscape has witnessed a roller coaster ride in recent months, with several rulings being pronounced by judicial forums on a variety of issues! For example, the Delhi High Court [TS(DB)-GST-HC(DEL)-2023-305]recently upheld a notification levying GST on auto-rickshaw rides and passenger transportation services by a non-air-conditioned stage carriage booked through E-commerce  Operators (ECOs) like Uber or Make-My-Trip. Another notable judgment issued by the Delhi High Court [TS(DB)-GST-HC(DEL)-2023-243was in the case of EY Ltd. India (assessee), in which it was held that the assessee was not an 'intermediary' in providing professional consultancy services to overseas entities and allowed IGST refund claim. Next, Karnataka AAAR [TS(DB)-GST-AAAR(KAR)-2023-182] issued another interesting judgment, whereby it was held that Myntra is ineligible to ITC on vouchers procured from third-party vendors & supplied to eligible customers.

As the government strives to develop the law in order to make it litigation-free, it becomes necessary for a professional to stay updated and aligned with all the changes occurring in the GST world. To cope up with these unending changes can be difficult, but as a well-known adage goes “any change, even the change for the better, is accompanied by discomfort” and the only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it and join the dance...!
