About Webinar:

Webinar Background -
As we usher in the new year, the winds of change in the GST realm continue to shape the path ahead. Karnataka HC's recent ruling challenges established norms, where the court's stance on deposit of 10% of the disputed tax amount underscores a pivotal shift in interpretation, emphasizing that the deposit pertains solely to the tax amount and not the entire composite amount comprising fines, penalties, and fees [TS(DB)-GST-HC(KAR)-2023-1303]. On the other hand, Allahabad HC's dismissal of the challenge to the jurisdiction of the Additional Director General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence (DGGI) adds clarity on the powers of Intelligence Officers [TS(DB)-GST-HC(ALL)-2024-2]. The Court's assertion that the Notification assigning jurisdiction aligns with the CGST Act, 2017, sheds light on the legal framework guiding inspection and search proceedings, providing insights crucial for businesses under scrutiny.

As the government strives to develop the law in order to make it litigation-free, it becomes necessary for a professional to stay updated and aligned with all the changes occurring in the GST world. To cope up with these unending changes can be difficult, but as a well-known adage goes “any change even the change for the better is accompanied by discomfort” and the only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it and join the dance...!
